Disposable digital camera

CVS sells a pure digital camera which can be hacked to make it reusable. On a whim I saw a disposable digital camera at CVS and bought one. Turns out, I’ve got one of the ones that isn’t currently hacked. Here I plan to catalog the information that I gather about getting this to work.

Here is a specific thread about this camera at camerahacking.com

Disection

Front of the camera
Back of the camera
Side of the camera

Apologies as I’d already taken the camera apart and tried to solder in a connector.

Bottom of the camera

This is how you know you’re screwed (for now). Click for large and the spot where it says “Model 510″.

Inside
Ram chip
This appears to be a samsung NAND flash chip (datasheet).
Processor

The double sided tape which sticks the peizo to the CPU removed a good amount of the paint.
That actually reads:

PD1-101-RD2100
EC227550B-1L
QH6937.1
0630
Taiwan

I’m unable to find a datasheet for this chip. Although a quick google search turns out a couple distributors.

Info Boot

Pressing the power button while depressing the shutter button and the display button yields:

INFO
FIRMWARE 0253
ID HA3070206386
REALM ID 20

Pinout of the connector
