The Yankees already went.
There is no further point in chanting, “Let’s go Yankees.” It is also correct, crowd, that we are in the “U-S-A”, very good.
If I may for a moment relate the suffering to which I am exposed this morning. Throngs and herds of drunken sports fans blowing horns and various whistles. They’re all waiting for their beloved Yankees to make their way up Broadway. In a way I feel like the Grinch, the Who’s celebrating their holiday with or without presents.
I’m trying to bring it up as often as I can today that we used to have ticker tape parades for Astronauts, Presidents, and Soldiers returning from war. Today we celebrate a group of highly paid sports figures. A world of difference.
